Once again I have taught myself the lesson that if you want to stay consistent with your workouts the best time to do them is in the morning. In my profession I am on my feet all day long moving around making working out in the morning all the more important. Even if you’re not moving around all day I would definitely recommend morning workouts unless you can easily take the initiative to workout after a long day of work. Working out early not only makes it impossible for something unplanned coming up and cancelling your workout, it will also give you an edge on other people who don’t have the extra energy and mental focus that you will receive from your workout. In most cases there is no need to eat anything before your workout so you only need to wait long enough to become fully awake before exercising.
To prepare yourself for your morning workout I would at the least drink a cup of hot tea or coffee. There are some good pre-workout supplements out there but they also carry some unwanted side effects. If you want a real boost without the side effects, just double the dose of a normal cup of coffee and I am sure you will be up and going strong. As far as what you should do while sipping on your coffee I would recommend watching something that will motivate you. Don’t watch something that is negative or boring(news). If you like YouTube there are many motivational and how to videos on fitness which I would recommend watching sometimes.
As far as your actual workout try to keep up with as many stats as you can to give you a complete picture of you results. If you are a YouTube enthusiast(or not) I would shoot some video before, during, and after your workout. I have found that if you record and document what you are doing you will be more likely to keep your mind on the task at hand. When you review all your stats and videos you will know your weaknesses and can focus on these areas.
Don’t forget that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but also your recovery meal is equally important making breakfast twice as important. So get up, workout, and eat right. You can do it!
